I get tired - - -

Of people giving the schools the prime responsibility for socializing our kids.

And then don't give them any authority.

If there's a problem with a kid learning, it's not the parents who haven't modelled learning, it's the schools fault. After all, if they've told the kids once they've told them a thousand times to do well in school. "Schools must not be teaching, I don't know what they do with all that money, heck, sometimes Johnny is so bored he doesn't even go and I don't blame him!!"

Lousy school.

If the kid is anti-social, it's not abusive parents, it's a school system which is too inflexible to integrate the little bastard.

If the kid is sick, it's the schools who haven't diagnosed the problem.

If I had my way, there would be "camps" attached to schools, and parents would be on "work release" when their kid was having trouble. Parents would live in the camp with their kids until whatever problem there was cleared up.

If it takes a village, bigawd there WILL BE a well-populated village - behind the school.

Anyway, that's my take. I get tired of schools being blamed for every inadequacy of society, and very often by the same parents who seem more childish than the children.

So help me God in a nearby State two mothers whose 12 and 13 y/o daughters were killed by a child molester are blaming the schools and the State. No one is suggesting the parents could have done something about it, EVEN THOUGH both parents knew the guy was sexually molesting their daughters. It was the fault of the schools and state.

What can schools do when there are parents like that? But in the aftermath there will be more requirements piled on the teachers and school system, in order to cover up for the abject negligence of parents.

Sigh.

Arf (always feel a bit better after a rant!!!)
