Thanks for pointing out the history before "appeasement" in 1938 on the Sudetenland. By that time, it was way too late. Whether Chamberlain really believed in "Peace in our time" is besides the point - it gave Britain an extra year to get rearmament in motion.
Whether any of this has any bearing on today is less obvious....
A more tellng parallel would be if Iraq was even intending to reoccupy the Northern or Southern no-fly zones.
And for "clear proof", well the US has that already, don't they? ;-)
