Hmm, not quite!
For the moment, the economical situation is worse in Germany than in France.
The French have a more conservative government than the Germans.
And the French have a permanent seat at the Security Council.
The French are the leading country in the Old Europe.
I just read that one of the reasons why the UK joined the EEC was to reduce the German influence in the EEC.
But this also lead to all sorts of other issues too.
