For a slight reality check here, you say

Have you heard of apples and oranges? It appear you are attempting to contract the civilian (and possibly military as well) populations of Iraq with those imprisoned in concentration camps?

Hate to tell you, but the civilian populations of both Germany and Japan supported their war efforts, with the exception of a very few dissadents.

It took "Fat Boy" and "Little Man" being dropped to have the Showa Emperor decide to tell his people not to kill the invading allies and fight to the last man.

In neither case did the populations court defeat. Only when defeat was enforced as an accomplished fact was an attitude adjustment made.
