Just so the record's straight, I thought your "Brain on CAD" post made me laugh
I like your idea and nice job with the drawing as well.
Some negative drawbacks would be that it increases the thickness of all the tiles, which would increase the weight of the spacecraft. That'd also be a lot of bolts and welds to inspect during manufacture. I wonder what such a retrofit to the shuttles would cost.
