I guess he was following the old adage...
"If at first you don't succeed [at killing yourself], try, try again."
He probably never heard the second part of the saying, "Then quit. There's no use making a damned fool out of yourself."
Too bad he didn't learn after the first fall that it just isn't very safe or smart to be screwing around on the Golden Gate Bridge.
