Had dinner and a movie last night with a friend. (Movie, on two DVDs was the first part of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Haven't read any of the books, don't suffer long movies well, but couldn't stop watching, 4+ hours as some has been added to the theatre version, I'm told. Even though I couldn't understand most of the dialogue. Fantastic scenery!!!! Wish I knew how they did that.
Especially like the home of Bilboa Biggins, or whatever his name. All the round rooms, doors. Wonderful!!)
Anyway, we compared notes. This friend had talked with her sister-in-law, a born-again Christian from 'way back. I had talked with a friend of the family, a former Roman Catholic nun, now an attorney.
Both of 'em thought that George Bush was a "man of God", their phrases, and therefore trustworthy.
Both of 'em thought the very next thing the US troops had to do was either invade Iran or North Korea, or both.
One of 'em, not the former nun, thought that Iran should be first, to make the area safe for Israel. Then North Korea.
I would bet these people, and they're good people, are typical of fundamental Christians of the GWB type. I can understand why the one is now an attorney and not a nun.
Absolutely terrifying. To propose terrorism on such a scale in the name of fighting terrorism. And implying that a Christian God would approve.
Gives one pause, doesn't it?
Arf
Yipes!!!
