Flipper took off because it was finally free.
All that dolphin DNA remembers Vietnam.
Hey, why would it want to go biting off live ordinance mines, when it could be FREE?
Better to swim to some deep sea or out island with lovely young female dolphins than be a trained "pet for war". Hell, IT wasn't born with any flag on it's back.
Why would it choose work and war, when well.......it could have freedom??
(Not to mention risking having it's head blown off 24/7).
