It's not a stupid point you make (for a change)
This is the sort of thing that should be verified by study and direct experimentation.
Logically I would have to guess that a species that existed prior to mass logging, probably would not rely on mass logging for its survival. Still, nature has a way of trumping our suppositions, and needs to be observed directly.
And maybe arsenic really is a vitamin.
