why time zones
A question, perhaps a stupid question, about time zones. Why is the world divided up into time zones? Why can’t all locations go by the same time, and just get used to the idea that in their location, say pacific coast, the sun is directly overhead at 4 am. If we had not divided things up into time zones tied to the sun, would we have just gotten used to the Idea that it’s dark at noon one place and the sun is strait overhead at another?
