Liberalism and Maturity

The whole thing is like getting to watch a radiator overheat until it explodes.

Art on planes? I bet there are a lot of old British folks she is abusing who painted cartoon teeth on Spitfires who would strongly disagree with her assessment - that to paint them was a form of insanity.

Either she is completely lacking an adequate history education or she is simply another person who succumbs to the hatred which lies in themselves - probably both.

Bush and Rumsfeld illicit such strong emotions in wannabe tyrants who completely unknowingly see in them a mirror reflection of themselves. The leadership of the liberal movement is nothing if not composed of a bunch of mini-Stalins and marxist reformists who know that power is only acceptable when they are the ones who control it, because they are SO much wiser than all the rest.

Detesting Disney and Coca-Cola certainly has nothing to do with war and everything to do with the jealousy of American success at producing things the world likes. Coca-Cola would be out of business if they could only produce those awful euro-soft drinks like Fanta and Bon Aqua, etc. Disney would likewise be nowhere to be seen if people didn't see their movies, attend their amusement parks or like their cartoon creations.

This vehemence and vituperation are simply the manifestation of seething jealousy of American power and productivity. Our warplanes and their artwork are symptomatic not of insanity, but rather illustrate in the mind of the hardened leftist - the superiority of the capitalist society - and how capitalism makes us a global superpower, able to invent and create state-of-the-art machines.

Yes, non-Americans whose own power-grabbing has been stifled or unsuccessful are the ones who hate America and George Bush & his administration the most. Seeing successful application of power is a detestable thing to someone who has tried but failed to garner the same power.

The marxist Bolsheviks despised the Tsar because of his power - and when they could they wielded their power far more harshly and destructively than did any Tsar in history. Yet they all thought they were repressed liberal reformers rising up and eliminating the capitalist oppressors.

The liberal in essence is trapped in a perpetual childlike view of the world. Whether it is their constantly disparaging and fearing of authorities, envy of the wealthy, or the desire to do away with existing systems and replace them with one of their own liking - the activist liberal, like a prehistoric fly preserved in amber, paints a clear example of societal immaturity.

Fortunately, one's education does not end, when one leaves schooling behind. It is just beginning at this point. The liberal, like a grandmother in hotpants and a halter-top, illustrates a certain lack of maturity and acceptance of their own position. Always seeking revolution and destruction of the "evil capitalist society" they never mature mentally beyond that of a 18-24 year old mentality, which holds the same viewpoints with little experience or education to support them.

Why is this? What events in their life cause such dissatisfaction with capitalism, Disney or something as inconsequential as Coca-cola?

Perhaps a string of personal failures or misfortunes could cause such views. Or perhaps associating with likeminded individuals might malevolently corrupt a weaker minded individual who can't think themselves out of the liberal box.

Yes, changing the world, saving everyone and becoming the world's hero is the fantasy of every 17 year old. Sadly, this worldview is still in place many decades into the future.

Such a view can be seen in the eyes of the high school antiwar protesters as well as their teachers who encouraged them.

Unfortunately, what the liberal completely fails to understand or confront is their own hate and dissatisfaction.

Hatred never changes anyone for the better. Hating the existing forms of government or world events achieves nothing and will only serve to juxtapose one's own lack of understanding to world affairs and the human condition.

Expecting peace and harmony in a world of vastly disparate intelligence levels, numerous religions and cultural traditions is preposterous on the face of it. It is not unlike expecting a child to never fight with its siblings.

Likewise, expecting a social paradise administered by well-meaning, benevolent liberals is equally ridiculous - and is the byproduct of a mind that cannot grasp the reasons such systems are completely unworkable and undesirable.

If one really looks closely at the varying peoples and their lives - one sees that they are often have placed themselves in the best position to learn and evolve. The jungle natives are not competing on Madison Avenue, the executives are not struggling to make ropes out of vines. Each finds themselves in a position where there own mentality is best served to learn and grow.

Once one realizes this, one loses any desire to implement a socialist cureall, because one realizes that such a cureall would not be a panacea and instead forms a deadly cocktail of repression and stagnation - a society completely counter-productive to developing human growth and potential!

Yes, one hopes that liberals can eventually realize these truths for themselves.

In the meanwhile, we will see innumerable articles, as hate-filled or nearly hate-filled as Margaret Drabble's.

Liberalism is fine to see on a smooth, eager, childlike face - and yet the same liberalism is worn as a horrible scowl and furrowed brow on adults and the aged.
