The magnetic field is induced and is very weak. I don'''t think it offers any significant protection. A Moon farther out might be a better bet to get farther from Jupiter's radiation. Callisto is the best Galilean, but Himalia is 170 km in diameter and more 5 times further out. Depends on whether essentially 0 g or the radiation is worse.
