Radical greens would prefer poverty
A radical green (what I'd call a "watermellon green") would prefer living in poverty under a totalitarian state with most of the population "liquidated". Of course they'd never openly say this. But how else could they achieve their agenda of creating an all embracing social/welfare state while supressing high technology, free trade, private property, etc. George Orwell was off by 100 years when he wrote "1984".
