Know the feeling, Gary (MOBEIUS WARNING!)

I am not native, my parents moved to San Diego from Michigan in 1959 when I was three. I lived in Chula Vista from 1959 until 1985 when I enlisted. I have followed California politics since Pat Brown beat Tricky Dick in '62 ("You won't have Dick Nixon to kick around anymore"). I followed Steve ("The Great Deregulator") Peace through high school. His only claim to fame was as the "star" of ATTACK OF THE KILLER TOMATOES. Gray Davis is just the latest made-up, soundbite politician to become Governor. I, among others far greater than me, saw this mess coming. You cannot add 10 million new people over and above births, build no new powerplants, force the "Big 2.5" (PG&E, SCE and SDG&E) to sell their power plants to out of state interests, force them to buy high and sell low and blather about "Conservation" and not have this happen. As a sidebar, SUNSET magazine in their current issue has a chart which shows that California already uses the LEAST energy per capita of any Western state. So conservation is not the be-all and end-all.

We need more production.

(As a lame attempt to swerve back on topic I offer a memory of Jerry Brown hiring Rusty Schweickert as his "Space Advisor." Since the only "space" in California at the time was between Jerry's ears, his advisor shoulda been Timothy Leary.)
