The THEMIS aboard 2001 Mars Odyssey should be able to return high-resolution spectra of Isidis that could nail down whether or not the flows derive from volcanic processes, though Beagle 2 should be able to bore under any surficial mantle that may mask spectra from orbital detection. At any rate, your LPSC abstract notwithstanding, I take it that you do not dispute the Lanagan et al. interpretation for the phreatic cones in Cerberus plains, Marte Valles, and Amazonis Planitia? Or do you believe in a similar (CO2-related) flow mechanism, rather than volcanism, for these areas as well?
*could* and *should*...
I expect the Themis results to be as uninterpretable and ambiguous as TES.
As for Lanagan, there is a growing set of evidence that these plains may be sedimentary rather than volcanic in origin, and I have no qualms in suggesting a wet-emplacement and volatile escape mechanism for the plains/cones association.
"wet" would, of course, be CO2-wet.
Now I agree that there is not enough evidence, but I'm working on this. I'm interested in finding low-temperature non-ionic mineralisation at the Beagle-2 location. I wonder if we will recognise it, though, even if we see it?
