Hi Barry

Glad to see you posting here, and I hope that you'll make a regular habit of it. There's a backlog of issues you've raised that we should discuss, including the varnish theory, Levin's position on life on Mars, and ICAMSR's concerns about MSR.

I'd like to quibble over a philosophical point that's relevant to the kind of discussion we want on the HabitableZone:

But eventually, the validity of scientific data will been
bourne out in the history books. It always is.

No. To be precise, the hypotheses put forth to explain the data will be judged by science, using the standard tools of testing, refinement, and proof, and the history books will record the outcome. Historians aren't in the business of judging scientific theories. The wheels of science can often grind so slowly that it appears to be a matter of historical timescales, but one way or another, hypotheses will be vindicated or disproven in the long run as better data becomes available.

And in the meantime we can do our part by soberly examining your hypotheses and the data on which they're based. That's why we're here.
