Don't worry, from what I understand Scott Hubbard, formerly head of the Mars Exploration Program at NASA HQ, recently did the same during a presentation at NASA Ames. Actually, the first place I heard the correct pronunciation was from Carl Sagan on the "Cosmos" series. As an Italian linguist once told me, " 'Sch' in Italian *is* /sk/; it is commonly mispronounced as /sh/ (as it is in German)."
