I was flipping through the channels last night and found that TNN shows ST:TNG. I watched an episode from the first season, the one where the Traveller takes the Enterprise a billion light years from home and convinces Picard that Westley isn't just a smart kid. It reminded me how weak the first season was for that series (the one where Picard would scream "I surrender" on all know hailing frequencies at the first sign of trouble), as well as how weak DS-9 and Voyager were during their first seasons. It takes time for the cast and writers to get a feel for their characters. I suspect the same will be true for Enterprise, but I'll watch it anyway. It's still better than most of the other drek on TV.
