By 1998 scientists from Fermilab were saying that they could produce as much as 140 nanograms of antiprotons annually. Just 16.282 micrograms are needed for a weapon equivalent to 1 metric tonne of TNT. Theoretically it would only take 116 years to produce enough for a powerful weapon, OR just 116 separate facilities working for 1 year. How many nuclear weapons factories did the USA and Russia have running during the cold war. And what is the production capacity of this brand new antimatter facility?
