EPR experiments may have been hiding some variables, according to Exorcising Einstein's spooks, implying a 'hidden layer to reality' beyond that described by quantum mechanics.
Nature also features Neutrinos feel the force. We're told Fermilab's 'results indicate that the strength of attraction between neutrinos and particles called Z bosons is about 2 percent larger than predicted by calculations based on the Standard Model.'
The Standard Model has been taking some hits lately. It predicts neutrinos have no mass. But neutrinos have mass. It predicts symmetry between kaons (k-mesons) and their antiparticle counterparts. But the decay ratio of kaons into pi-mesons is much higher than expected and reveals kaon assymmetry. It also predicts the Higgs particle, but the Higgs remains elusive with 70% of the territory searched and may not exist.
Perhaps we'll be needing 'physics beyond the Standard Model' sooner rather than later...?
