Well the standard model is just that...a model-
I do believe tho that the massless neutrino is just assumed by the standard model, not predicted by it... The Higgs is not an essential part of it either.
But I agree we have had some tantalizing hints that a new revolutionary model is in the works... science is going to get more interesting...
