Solar Power Satellite
Suppose we put a solar power satellite in orbit. Would it be worth it to beam the power down by microwave?
What if we dropped a Hoy Tether down to earth instead, and channelled all the electricity through it? Would that not be more worthwhile?
This is the same thing proposed for a space elevator, but with a different purpose.
