I can't tell you how POed I get when I read stuff like 1-2 days to Mars with fusion power. I've read BS like that for decades. It simply fools the next generation of space cadets into thinking that this is just around the corner if they're patient and let NASA, ESA or whoever fund their limp propulsion projects. Meanwhile, viable real world affordable technology like fission H2 heating NERVA style rockets that could get astronauts there in 9 months do not ever get built. Or better yet, a practical VASIMIR rocket does not get test flights. VASIMR could either haul big payloads of stuff for an exploration base or make fast 3-4 month trips for crews. Doable technology. Somebody needs to put real engineers on it and it will happen, unlike the fusion crap which is just more university PhD research subsidy stuff.
