If you want to see emptiness, try the Sahara Desert or Namibia

To be sure there is a lot of open real estate in Oz. However nothing impressed me for shear desolation than the Sahara. If you look out west of the Nile valley over the Sahara, all you see is an ocean of sand. It literally does look like an orange ocean clear out to the horizon.

Getting back to Oz. In my office, I have a large photograph of an "Outback" panorama hanging over my desk. I took this picture west of Quilpie. Next to it on the wall, I have a picture of a rain forest valley in Border Ranges National Park near where my wife and I used to camp. There are so many beautiful things to see in Queensland. There's the obvious stuff like the Barrier Reef. However Carnarvon Gorge National Park, Stradie and Moreton Island are almost in the same league (definitely cheaper). I wish there was aerospace work in Oz..... sigh....
