NASA-LANGLEY NEWS RELEASE February 7, 2002, states basicly that there is more than two to four times more radiation escaping from the Earth than previously thought possible. Could this effect be caused by the extra energy that has been released into the atmosphere in the form of radioactivity ?
I found some information that I collected from a TV program back in 1987, it stated that between 1959 and 1987 there was 337 tones of Uraniumhexafluoride and 230 tons of other radioactive elemens that escaped into the atmosphere. Also between 1944 and 1987 there was 530 thousand curies of radioactive Iodine released to the environment. By the way 1kg (2.2lb) of Uranium 235 releases 18.7 million kilowatt hours as heat. Naturally occurring Uranium contains 0.71 percent of U235 the remainder is U238. When U238 absorbs neutrons it changes to Plutonium 239.
Could it be that all this extra (man made) energy in the atmosphere is giving the atmospheric molecules the extra velocity that NASA has observed.
I wonder how many tons of radioactive elements there are in the atmosphere today.
