Re: A whale of a flash . . .

The K/T event is approx. 60 million years ago. The Chicxulub event is approx. 65 million years ago. Whales took to the seas approx. 55 million years ago. Sounds like a connection between the three. Was the planet too inhospitable for the pakicetids to survive? They were believed to be fish eaters, and a move to the sea might have been the logical choice -- which means there were no whales at the time of the K/T extinction.

Hmm-m...

Well, of course their weren’t. After all, they obviously survived the event. Evidence of their survival can be found at you local sea aquarium -- provided they have a live whale for you to look at.

Perhaps the Chicxulub meteor was packed with vitamin D...?

I was in Houston the year Candu (sp -- she was a killer whale) conceived, and I was sorry to hear of her death a few years later (it's a SeaWorld-thing).
