Re: Columbias entry

The Shuttle was a bright orange spot followed by a long ion trail. I used a Sony DCR-TRV315 Digital 8 Camcorder, and captured this frame from the tape. Because I used the Nightshot function with a slow shutter speed, the Shuttle is a short streak just ahead of the ion trail. The Nightshot function picks up the IR range of the spectrum, and the camera can see the ion trail much better than I could see naked eye. With binoculars I followed it till it faded out, long after it passed out of the camcorders view. I was lucky to get anything. I had setup the camera about a minute before the pass, and just pointed it where I thought Columbia would be. :-)
