Give that it's as you sayin development in the modern aerospace industry, then why doesn't Boeing use simpler methods to blow away Airbus by developing better jets by a factor of 10 plus cheaper in R&D? I know that big companies are inefficient but are they that inefficient? And why would competitive pressure not force some conservative level of improvement?
