Buran and ejector seats
Last year I visited Sydney for a space conference and we went down to the exhibition of the Buran (The Russian "copy" of the space shuttle). One of the things that impressed me (apart from the general feel of being inside a 1950's military bomber) was that the pilots had ejection seats for this particular model - the air flight test article, complete with sukhoi jet enjines and a 45,000 litre fuel tank in the bay.
The ejection seats were second-hand, like just about everything else in Russia and appeared to have been refurbished after at least one successful use on another vehicle!
