Needing an answer to a hard Sci-fi question.
I'm writing a short story based on interstellar travel, and I'm looking for a realistic way of propeling a 30,000-35,000 tonne starship to 0.2c. Any suggestions?
I'm leaning towards nuclear pulse propulsion using shape-charged thermonuclear pulse units in the several hundred kt to 1Mt range.
