I thought Mariner-4 killed the idea of chlorophyll existing on Mars?
I thought the idea of high-orders of life [lichens, insects, etc] on Mars died with Mariner-4's discovery in 1965 that Mars couldn't possibly support such advanced life forms, and associated organic molecules: thus no chlorophyll on Mars.
So it came as a surprise that a BBC website claims that a NASA research scientist, working for Ames laboratory, has discovered chlorophyll on Mars from 1997 data from MGS?
What gives?
