INS is being broken up; is NASA still untouchable?
If the Immigration and Naturalization Service can be broken up for underperforming, why is NASA still supposedly untouchable? NASA has the third largest procurement budget in the entire U.S. federal government, even as our national debt's at an all time high of $6 trillion. Now that campaign finance reform is going to take effect in mid-November, won't politicians need to enact long overdue reforms regarding government wastefulness in order to win over voters (as opposed to mainly just corporations and interest groups that will no longer get to donate much at all)? Just what percentage of NASA's annual $15 billion dollar budget should NOT be used to fun space prizes (as opposed to "cost plus" government contracts)?
