Re: Solar system formation

The thing with the common explanation of the formation of the solar system is it does not explain the existance of the asteroid belt. Various events such as collisions with one of Jupiters moons is offered as an explanation. My expanation makes the asteroid belt a normal part of the solar systems formation. The Ort cloud can be explained in a similar way.

Our view of other stars show that multi-star systems predominate. That means that most systems have more than one stallar mass forming at the same time. I say this because once a star is shining the solar winds would dispers the matter around it preventing the formation of other solar masses. The same mechanism would disrupt planetary formation. Gas giants would have a espesially difficult time forming after a star started shining. Of our four gas giants the largest is nearest to this disruptive influence.

I was just wanting to offer alternatives to what I view as weaknesses in the current views.
