Good view from SW BC
We didn't get the full annular effect up here, of course (I think it reached about 45%), but it was still excellent - clear skies and fresh, cool air. I used my spotting scope in my back doorway, pointed it at the sun using the shadow of the scope on the smooth white metal door to find the sun and voila! A perfect image about 5-8 cm across (depending on how far the scope was from the door) - we could see several sunspots very clearly, my 12 yr old was fascinated, especially when I explained to her that the smaller sunspots were bigger than the Earth.
