I'm sure the Romans and Greeks, and Arabs and Chinese and Persians, too, had long, gut-wrenching discussions about how and why everything was going to hell in a handbasket. And I'm sure they had no shortage of reasons and theories why. Who knows? Maybe some of them were even right.
But everyone does seem to agree on one thing: It wasn't THEIR fault. It's always the other guy's.
