Speaking of holodecks...
that reminds me of a conversation I had with a buddy while stationed in Shemya AFB, AK. We got a couple channels of satellite TV and were watching Star Trek: The Next Generation in his room one day. I forget which episode it was, but it featured the holodeck. He said, "Man, one of those would really be nice up here."
Later, the crew used a shuttle craft for something. I said to him, "Screw the holodeck. Give me a shuttle and I'll commute to work!" One of those shuttle craft would make a very nice addition to my garage.
