Headline - "People May Be a Major Factor in Global Warming"
Quote - "humans have been ‘a major driver’ of greenhouse gases"
It reads to me that the headline is milder than the quote. How do you get
"Being a major contributor of greenhouse gases in no way implies that “people may be a major factor in global warming”. That we are a factor is moot, since we definitely are, and that changes can be made to minimize, even negate this factor is unquestionable. Apparently the media feels that its public is simply too stupid to see this and must be goaded into action"?
With a milder headline than quote, how do you get the public "must be goaded"?
It's turning out that there is global warming, that people are contributing to it in a significant manner.
So, reality. There is a round Earth which revolves around the Sun and humans are contributing to the global warming of that round planet.
Even the Bush Administration can admit it was wrong. I'd just admit it and move on.
