does not translate to “usually produced by the burning of oil and coal ...”, or even “always produced by the burning of oil and coal ...” -- even though greenhouse gasses are scientifically shown to always be produced from the burning of fossil fuels, this is not what was said.

Does not translate to “cause climate warming.”

“... people may be a major factor in global warming ...”

Does, however, translate to “... people may not be a major factor in global warming ...”

But the media would never print something as radical as that.

I guess it depends on the conspiracy as to whether you’ll step out to champion the media. Personally, I hate the media no matter which way the smoke blows.
