I was just saying that using RTGs to power a space elevator with a 50 tonne/hour launch capacity would require upwards of 60,000 - 70,000 metric tonnes of Plutonium fuelled RTGs. Such a system would not need refuelling for decades. We could do with much less nuclear fuel but we would need refuelling missions. Don't ask me how it would be done, I'm just drawing a comparison with RTGs, that being the worst design possible. Better designs are possible, but who knows how much better?
