American film and television trade magazine Variety reports that Star Trek: The Next Generation actor Jonathan Frakes has been lined up to direct a live-action Thunderbirds feature film. The film is to be produced by Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title Films, whose previous attempt to launch a live-action Thunderbirds movie was abandoned in 1998 in light of the box-office failure of The Avengers (1998) and Lost In Space (1998), both based on Sixties cult television series. This new attempt to revive Thunderbirds as a live-action feature is currently set to start filming early in 2003.

- It better be good. Those supermarionetts could act. The original show is back in syndication.
