Re: Disproved, no . . .

He and his work were discredited by the scientific community, and his claimed successes could not seem to be repeated by others -- at the time.

But that was years ago, and things, like time, change.

But with the Russian government starting to realize that many of the greatest treasures of the Soviet era are to be found scattered throughout the country in forgotten science and technology projects, the bureaucracy has begun to clamp down on high technology transfers to the West.

Like Russia’s in a position to develop their aviation and space agencies...

This might look familiar to some out there:

According to Dr. Eugene Podkletnov, who led the research, the discovery was accidental. It emerged during routine work on so-called
"superconductivity", the ability of some materials to lose their electrical resistance at very low temperatures. (one stone is about 14 pounds per Dan York).

According to a former NASA tech I knew here at WorldCom a few years back (he’s moved on to other pastures, btw), the technology was alive and well at KSC, but put on ice when the device developed into a real headache. The science isn’t exactly new, just different, and the results of various tests were -- shall we say violent? Fires and molecular breakdown of underlying structures moved the tests to various facilities at the KSC -- then my contact landed an AT&T job...

Well, he (Rick something-or-other) was fun to talk with.
