Re: Lots of nice, blue stars . . .
New stars.
The core of the spiral galaxy appears to have collapsed to a very dense cluster, and the flotsam cast out has recently been the building-blocks for the new, blue stars. Or it could be clouded by something a lot closer to us. The new stars might even be loaded with heavier elements -- depending upon what comprises the center.
Without doing the research, I'd say a very nice, very new neighborhood, one ready for the advent of life -- me.
;^)
The spectra might show it to be a little less than habitable, considering the gale forces from the core that developed that ring.
I like it,
Dan
