If you honestly wanted to know the answers to your questions you should have found them already. I'm not wasting my time trying to lead a horse to water that doesn't want to drink.

As for comparing apples to oranges the subject was extended stays. Whether it is 2 months or 2 years a decent living space is required to stay sane and accomplish work. No one has accused Zubrin of planning luxurious accomodations. So you will need to launch a similar mass for any long term stay.

Feel free to comment on any mass you think is wasted in any of these plans or that you don't think is needed on a lunar mission.
