Interesting, but...

Why could the microbes not simply be terrestrial organisms carried to high altitude (41 km, high but not exactly "outer space") by winds or some other earthly mechanism? If balloons can go to 49 km, why not micro-organisms?

It will be interesting to see if there are follow-up studies posted.
