Some people just have a hard time facing reality
Pointing out the obvious absurdities of EP's plan to him is about as productive as pointing out the absurdities in the "We Never Went to the Moon" crowd's feeble conspiracy theories. There seems to be a mindset among some people that locks onto something with all the fervor of a religious conviction that makes them oblivious to all rational thought. Pointing out the logical, operational, and political fallacies to those people is about as productive as arguing about how many angels can fit on the head of a pin.
