The Sun’s closest neighbor, Proxima Centauri, turns out to be 1.5 % the Size of Jupiter, but it’s 150 times more massive. In relation to the Sun it is about 7 times smaller than the Sun.
Proxima Centauri's is just barley massive enough to be a star. A little less massive and it would be a brown dwarf..
I wonder if there could be some Europa like planets orbiting it?
Note this part of the article;” In astronomical terms, the newly measured angular diameter of Proxima Centauri is 1.02 + 0.08 milliarcsec, or about the size of an astronaut on the surface of the moon as seen from Earth, astronomers said, or a head of a pin on the surface of Earth, as seen from the international space station.”
This reminds me of the “Shooting the Moon” post down this page where they were talking about seeing the Apollo LM Descent Module from an Earth-based scope. If we had a scope able to see the disk of Proxima Centauri, then that same scope should be able to view the Apollo landing site.
Proxima Centauri's size has been accurately measured.
