Was the MIG -19 first?

Hi, Larry!
Since I know you are interested in these things, and since 2003 is not only the centennial of the Kitty Hawk, but also the 50th anniversary of the 1st test-flights of the USAF Super Sabre, USN Skyray, and the MIG-19. Which was the first?
According to a POPULAR SCIENCE article I read recently, the MIG-19 was the FIRST level-flight supersonic capable
jet-fighter.
Do you agree?
I'm personally of the opinion
that it was the USAF "Super Sabre" [which went supersonic in level-flight for the first time in Aug/1953]
