Shut down an EXISTING system that is providing 60 percent of your energy while burning NO oil and creating NO CO2. America should be doing this good. What in the hell are your leaders using for brains???

The Belgian reactors put out about 5,712 MW. Assuming I have the math and units right, the biggest damn wind turbine I could find is shown below and puts out about 4.4 Mw until it breaks down. We are looking at building about 1,300 of these titans to replace your reactors, or about one for every 9 square miles of Belgium, even assuming every square mile of Belgium is suitable for wind turbines. Or, you could just build a lot more smaller ones. I really don't think anyone HAS done the calculations.

And when you shut down the reactors, you don't have a nice chunk of radioactive material churning out power. You have a nice chunk of radioactive material doing nothing that you need to get rid of. Not the fuel--that needs to be replaced periodically anyway. The immense radioactive carcass of the reactor.
