Fuel pump with filter close by are protectively mounted in the left chassis channel for EFI engines.
Carbureted engines are either left, right lower front side mounted just above the crancase oil pan.
For EFI's, with the drivers side door open just turn the ignition on while your outside of the vehicle. You will hear the pump charge the fuel line.
My theory of why EFI vehicles have so many problems these days. There are too many teenage sons and daugthers that go to watch the submarine races and don,t make out in the back seat anymore. It is those flailing legs in the front passenger side that knockout the MCU computer under the glove compartment.

Rule of thumb, for EFI and carbureted engines.
