feel free to contact me...The time on the summit is very costly though... I have only seen keck 1 two times... and it is just down the hall...
When you work on the summit you try to do what you need and get down as soon as you have done it... I once did an 18 hour shift up there... it took 5 days for me to recover...

I am not sure what bugs you saw, I have only seen 1 flock of birds at the top... and that was a VERY rare occurance! There is only one bug that is native to the top and it feeds off of the bugs that get blown up from Hilo....(piles of dead bugs collect in the corners of the obsevatory)

NOTHING other than the beetle is native...
